The Weekly Mosaic - 2
Pleasant movies, an idea worth expanding (seedling), and one thought for the week.
Movies:
A decent watch about a bond between a hopeful guy Zak, with down syndrome and an outlaw who was in search of some peace after his brother's death. Zak runs away from the shelter to become a wrestler whom he sees on tv. He was provided by the government, which was an old age home and Tyler, the outlaw runs away from the place where he used to sail and catch krabs, fish, etc.
The story progresses slowly, with light-hearted moments and Dakota Johnson is the care-taker, who is in pursuit to find him.
However, on seeing how Tyler treats him and how they were becoming good friends, she gets to understand the bond they built and continues on their quest of makingn zak meet his hero annd also to be come a wrestler.
If you are looking for a light hearted movie for the weekend, you can watch this. It is available on Prime Video.
The filmmaker described it as a narrative in three farewells.
The story is all between three people. Two childhood friends and a husband of one of the friends.
It was exquisitely natural, uncomfortable yet too heartbreaking to see.
The circumstances didn't give the childhood friends/ lovers a chance, even though we know they were destined to be together. However life happens and one of the friend gets married. The husband is one of those lovable, sweet, thoughtful characters.
The childhood friends meet as adults where one is in hopes to get closure, but the other is in forever confused state of what it is that is so hard.
In one scenario, the husband simply sits next to them and appears to understand what they are saying, but he says nothing.
In the end, she wanders as the childhood friend left and sobs, and her husband arrives to hold her gently and take her in, which was beautiful to watch. Keeping aside his questions and reservations while his wife is being emotional.
The film itself is stunning to watch, with lots of grain and green and blue tones, aside from this charming/deep little tale of past lives.
You can watch this on Apple TV.
One Thought for the week:
Derek Sivers on what money can't buy:
“Mastery is the best goal because the rich can’t buy it, the impatient can’t rush it, the privileged can’t inherit it, and nobody can steal it. You can only earn it through hard work. Mastery is the ultimate status.”
- Snippet captured from Farnam Street’s Brain Food Newsletter.
Seedling:
Decide your goal to adjust how you want to play it
If your goal is to win at any game, you should be bringing your best in all possible scenarios. But if your goal is to keep playing the game as long as you exist; you should be focusing on doing it a little better than yesterday.
